Nets Report

The
Nets lost away from home, 100-97, last night to the
Cleveland Cavaliers. They shouldn't have. Or at least
the game should have gone into overtime. But the referees
decided to allow Lamond Murray's shot with 0.5 seconds
left that clearly took longer than 0.5 seconds to get
off.
The shot clock did not start until
Murray caught and released the ball.
Jason Kidd actually went and asked
one of the refs what Murray was allowed to do in the
time remaining, and was told that they basically have
to catch the ball and immediately flip it up, no catching,
turning and shooting. But that's exactly what Murray
did.
Well, this helps make the Eastern
Conference playoff race slightly more interesting.
Lucious Harris has a weird "dent"
in the right side of his face. It turned out to be a
fractured bone. He's having tests done today, and could
miss some games. Harris is a key Nets contributor. This
increases Richard Jefferson and Anthony Johnson's importance.
Kenyon Martin does not plan on
changing his style of play, despite lots of flagrant
fouls called against him this year. This does not mean
he expects to keep racking those flagrants up, but his
overall energy and effort will remain the same.
Todd MacCulloch is not yet
ready to return, but his foot is finally starting to
feel a bit better. He ran around on a court for the
first time in a month yesterday. Todd hopes to be back
before the playoffs, if not soonefse
Jason Kidd is still a prime
MVP candidate for the season, but it'll be tough to
pull off due to his continued low field goal percentage.
True, he makes the team better without even scoring
a point. All the same, it would not be surprising to
see him finish top 4 or 5 in the voting, but not take
the award home.
