Paul
Pierce, who has been on an incredible tear for the last two weeks, scored
13 of his 36 points in the final 3.5 minutes in a close Celtics victory
over the Bulls. Left off the All Star team this year, Pierce is making
a statement to the world that he is, as Shaq recently called him, The Truth.
In his last 6 games, Pierce is scoring 35.8 points per game and laying
a smackdown on the league.
It
appears that Memphis, Tennessee is the winner of the Vancouver Grizzlies
sweepstakes. Today it's expected that team owner Michael Heisley will inform
the NBA of two things: (1) Bryant Reeves is big and lousy, and (2) That
Memphis is his top choice. This isn't official; we'll soon learn what the
real deal is, but this is what sources are claiming. Memphis seems to have
the most local corporate sponsors interested in throwing money at the team
in exchange for great seats at and near courtside, luxury boxes where you
can't see the game but do get your own tv, allowing you to watch better
games on cable, and assurance that Bryant Reeves will receive limited minutes.
The
Lakers, minus Kobe Bryant, beat the Kings last night. How? Sacramento only
shot 32% from the field, hitting 24 of 84 from the field.
Toni
Kukoc, a one-man army back when he was the only good Chicago Bull, is once
again fairly unstoppable as a proud member of the awful Atlanta Hawks.
In a win over the Bucks (ok, fine, it was a loss, not a win. But Atlanta
only lost by 7 points, so in their eyes, that's a win), Kukoc scored a
season-high 31 points.
Karl
Malone is now the all-time NBA leader in the Free Throws Made category.
This is remarkable considering he was awful from the charity stripe when
starting his career and worked hard until the shot came easy for him. We've
got a Karl Malone interview coming soon.
The
Raptors beat the Grizzlies last night. That is important because Toronto
is in a heated East playoff race, but also because this could be the last
time for a long time that two NBA teams located in Canada play each other.
Tracy
McGrady opened up a 6-pack of Whoop Ass on the Indiana Pacers. Orlando
won by two. The Magic rookie, Mike Miller, is emerging.
The
Pacers and Celtics are now tied for the 8th and final East playoff spot.
The
Heat upset the Spurs by five. Tim Hardaway thought he was young again and
scored 25 points. Derek Anderson, having a great year in San Antonio, had
a rare awful night. The Heat won thanks to Derek's lack of production and
their own well-rounded offensive attack.
Stephon
Marbury loves to kick Minnesota's ass. It didn't happen last night, as
Terrell Brandon scored a career-high 34 points, helping the Wolves beat
the Nets. Marbury gets booed every time he touches the ball when visiting
Minnesota. He did have an incredible 3rd quarter (17 of his 32 points),
but couldn't drag the Nets to a win.
