Dallas
Maverick's point guard Steve Nash is having an outstanding season. After
leading Canada's Olympic squad to a surprising seventh place finish in
Sydney he entered the season with confidence. It's showing.
Through Friday he the 6'3" guard was averaging 16.6 points and 7.6.
This is to the delight of Nash who was not even sure if he was going to
remain in Dallas after the Mavs aquired Howard Eisley from Utah. His success
has not gone unnoticed as he was named to participate in the 3-point competition.
Nash is shooting an impressive 40% from behind the arc and is leading the
league in
free
throw percentage at 92.5%. Look for Nash to continue to be the number point
guard in Dallas. While sitting out with a hamstring injury the Mavs
struggled with Eisley running the offence. With Dirk Nowitzki a having
break-out season and Michael Finley pouring in 21 points a game look for
the Mavs to make some noise in the Western Conference.

THE
DYNASTY THAT SHOULD NOT BE
By
LUCAS "REX" BANACK
Everybody
says the downfall of the Lakers will be the Kobe and Shaq ordeal, but as
long as the Lakers have one-sided time-keepers - and possibly one-sided
refs - the Lakers will last longer then the Bulls. It is a travesty
what happened to the Grizzlies; these guys have 1 of the last 22 against
division rivials. The one time that they could have beat the "most
dominate team in the nba" they get jobbed. Then the nba rules that
shaq was fouled on the shot so they score 2 points plus the free throw.
Now everyone and their mothers know that the odds of Shaq making 2 free
throws in a row are about the same as Steve Nash winning the dunk contest.
The NBA should accredit the Grizzlies the win, reverse the fine on Shareef,
and apologize to the fans who have to watch big town players get away with
everything. I guarantee you that if the situation was reversed the
Griz would have lost. And contrary to popular belief the two most
dominant players in the NBA are not in la la land, they are in Philadelphia(Allen
Iverson) and Toronto(Vince Carter), and if you consider leadershp ability
and courtside willingness they are not in the top 5.
