the League in 60 Seconds

Last
night proved that everything can occasionally work out just fine for Kobe
and Shaq. In one of his best games this season, Shaq scored 34 points and
grabbed a season-high 23 rebounds as the Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers,
101-98. Kobe got his stats as well with 32 points (12 in the 4th quarter).
Perhaps that's how it should be - Shaq doing work early on, and Kobe taking
over in the 4th quarter when Shaq's lousy free-throw shooting becomes a
factor.
After
the game Shaq had no interest in discussing anything, and quickly left.
Bryant hung around, admitting that he went out of his way to make sure
that Shaq got the ball when he wanted it. "We can't have the big fella
being unhappy," Kobe said. "I want to win; he wants to win."
And
that's what the Lakers are doing lately - winning. This is their 9th victory
in their last 11 games.
Allen
Iverson scored 29 and Tyrone Hill matched a career high with 20 rebounds
as the 76ers won their 10th straight road game, edging out the Wizards,
86-84. If Philly can win at Dallas on January 23rd they would tie the franchise
record for consecutive road victories (held by Julius Erving's Sixers from
1980). Rip Hamilton, the Wizards' emerging star, scored 22.
The
Raptors, a frustrated team these days, lay a smackdown on the Celtics in
Boston, beating them by 21. Vince Carter scored 20 of his 25 points before
the end of the 2nd quarter. Paul Pierce's most telling stat was 7 - the
amount of turnovers he committed.
Derek
Anderson is rising. He dropped 25 on the Pistons last night and is fitting
onto his new Spurs team nicely.
Kevin
Garnett was one assist shy of a triple double in a win over the Clippers
last night. Lamar Odom was huge as well.
David
Wesley's 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left gave the Hornets a close-shave
victory over the Bulls.
