dj strawberry interviewD.J. Strawberry, a 6-5 guard who at the University of Maryland averaged 14.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season, hopes to be taken in the 2007 NBA Draft. Here's what he said after a Washington Wizards workout.

On his workout: “It went well. I shot the ball well and I showed that I can play defense. It was a pretty intense workout and I had fun.”

On his draft status: “A lot of people say that I might get drafted in the second round but you never know. You never know until draft night. My agent has been telling me to keep playing hard every day and continue to do well in the workouts.”

On the possibility of playing for the Wizards: “It would be exciting. I have spent four years of my life in this area. I have a lot of family and friends here. I know this area so well and I have been a fan of the Wizards ever since I have been here.”

On his style of play: “I consider myself a Bruce Bowen, Raja Bell type of player that is going to bring energy on the defensive end. Now my shot is starting to come along, so I am going to be able to hit open shots.”

On playing multiple positions at Maryland: “I think it was huge because my ball-handling skills have improved. In these workouts, you have to have good ball handling ability. You also have to be able to guard different positions and play different positions.”
