Default Chris Paul or Melo?

Granted, these guys play completely different positions. But if you were starting an NBA team and wanted to be dominant for 5 or 6 consecutive years, which of the two do you take?

According to this Top 25 list, C.P. gets the nod over Melo...

How is TJ Ford not in the top 25?

14 points 7 assists on 49% on field goals, 90% free throw shooter. Only 2.2 turnovers.

In 26 minute a game.

Yet guys like Travis Outlaw are ahead of him?

Yeah, I agree with that completely. A playmaker at the PG spot is generally more effective at making his team better than a SF would be. Unless we're talking about LeBron, of course.

Because T.J. Ford can't seem to string together more than 3 consecutive games at a time without getting hurt. By the way, Outlaw's numbers in December are something like 18 pts and 6.5 reb per game in under 30 minutes, so he's technically doing better right now.

Carmelo Anthony.

I'd rather have the guy that can play with his back to the basket.

Makes sense. But wouldn't you rather have your PF fill that role? I think that CP's court sense and ability to penetrate trumps low post play from a SF.

How many PF's coming into the NBA now are capable back to the basket scorers?

Or more correctly, as good with their back to the basket as Carmelo Anthony?

He hasn't missed anymore games then Lebron this season and played 75 games last season. These people's criteria is stupid:

Quote:
The Top 25 Under 25 list is a compilation of the efforts of Aaron, Joshua and myself. After a great deal of research and analysis, each of us develops a list of the Top 30 players in the league under age 25. In determining our individual lists, each of us uses a subjective rating system based on current statistics, future potential and the ability of a given player to reach that potential. For instance, a player like Gerald Green would score high on the potential scale but, with poor numbers the past few seasons, he doesn't do well in terms of the other two criteria. As such, you won't see Gerald Green on our list anytime soon.

If you're looking at the past, present and future you take Ford for all of those. In the past he's been better then Outlaw, in the present he is playing better then Outlaw (look at season numbers) and in the future Ford will be better (he's the starting point guard now and in the future whereas Outlaw's future is off the bench).

The whole way they do this is stupid. How can you consider the past and future potential but then do a weekly ranking that changes each week? Do player's past performances or future performances change? Or does a single good week vault a player ahead of another making the whole formula flawed?

Good point. Chris Bosh and Al Jefferson are the only ones that come to mind. Although you can make the argument that LaMarcus Aldridge, Al Horford and Tyrus Thomas will join them in time. Most young big men try to jump over everyone. It seems like there are a ton of great young SF but not very many good PF at all.

If you're talking about guys in their late 20's: Boozer, Stoudemire, Randolph, Curry and Gasol come to mind.

Chris Paul easily. Good playmaker (and scorer) PG is much more important than a scoring SF.
