I need blocks badly and may get rid of morris peterson (bad preseason as compared to rasual butler).
oh yeah, Antoine Walker (there's a long thread here on the forums about his role in Minny), JR Smith, and Wally Szczerbiak are still available. Should I take any of them? I'm in a 13 team roto league with the common yahoo stat cats. my only SGs are VC and Mo' Pete.
thanks everybody! good luck with your respective leagues.

There's only two worth thinking about grabbing. If blocks are all that you need, I'd take Mourning and then watch Pryzibilla carefully this first few games. There has been talk that he will do better this year. I would need to see it to believe it. Pryzibilla will probably get you more games, but Alonzo will get more blocks as he steps in for old Shaq much more this year. Good luck!

Take przybilla, he's already starting. Worst case scenario, he's the same as Zo. Diop big minutes till damp gets back. Ratliff, who knows, may do well.

Wow! I have to check this Ratliff out. Does anyone else feel like he will be a great source of CONSISTENT Blocks? I haven't heard too much buzz about him.
Re: best available third string center? BLOCKS NEEDED
well my source is the inside hoops depth chart (http://www.insidehoops.com/depth-northwest.shtml) , and he was only really competing with mark blount and since he got traded, I would think ratliff has won the job...he's getting plenty of blocks during the preseason and occasionally adds a bit in the other cats...
Re: best available third string center? BLOCKS NEEDED
hmm.. not to discredit you, but the site has a couple interesting scenerios. it has k-mart(den) starting at PF while nene is backup center. and JR smith after Diawara. Im not 100% sure of whats going on in denver, but i find those two starters/bench not happening. but i dunno. maybe it will.
Re: best available third string center? BLOCKS NEEDED
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has reported that Al Jefferson will start at center when the Wolves go with a smaller lineup and that Theo Ratliff will start at center when they do not. But there's also a distinction that needs to be made between starting and playing starters minutes. There's no doubt that Jefferson will be playing minutes at center even when the Wolves don't go small and they've got some players that they need to give playing time to, so I don't know exactly how many he's going to get.
Re: best available third string center? BLOCKS NEEDED
Go with Ratliff...the coach said he really likes the way he play soo Ratliff shoud get minutes. And Ratliff dont need that much minutes to produce in BLK. He ave. about 3 blk in 20min during the preseason.
ANd pickup Zo when Ratliff is hurt...by this time shaq is probably hurt too. IF not, go w/ Pryl.
Re: best available third string center? BLOCKS NEEDED
If ratliff is healthy he will be a block machine. He doesnt have that bloated contract because he was a go to scorer or had a charming disposition, it was because he was a spectacular swatter.
I guess Ratliff gets the nod. Even if he doesn't earn starters' minutes, there's not really anyone else who can be the back-up to Al Jefferson. There's no buzz about Ratliff - same as Joel Przybilla - this season because of his low 2006-07 stats on Yahoo.
From Yahoo: The Heat will enter the season with five centers. Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning and Mark Blount were set, and coach Pat Riley decided to keep Earl Barron for a third season and undrafted rookie Joel Anthony.
Anyone else want to throw in their $0.02/point-of-view?

GET PRZBILLA...he is a blocking machine. Its all he is good for. Like Raja Bells except for blks.
