Default How much interest is there for a 2k8 league (x360)?

Last year we tried a 2k7 league, and it was a complete bust.

We spent all sorts of time organizing the thing, and getting everybody signed in with the right team. The draft was pretty awesome and worked flawlessly, and the first week of games went off with few problems. Some teams posted recaps of their games, and we had a vote on player of the week, based on stats.

Week two was horrible. I played my game, and maybe one other pair did. The "week" stretched on for three weeks before I finally simulated through it, and it quickly became clear that the league was done. Part of it was my fault for setting it up as a traditional schedule when a flex schedule would work better (you can play your games in any order based on who's online at the time). Another (bigger) part of it is that people simply flaked and proved to be unreliable.

So think long and hard before you respond to this thread - do you really want to draft a team and play once a week (or more) with it, and really make the league a fun thing? At its best this could be the ultimate combination of fantasy sports and video games. The game keeps complete stats, players can post recaps of games, teams can trade players, etc. But there's also reality - you might be busy with school or work, you might find out that you drafted a crappy team, you might lose your first couple games, your opponent from week 1 might be immature or a cheeser who inbounds to half court (no doing this please)...

There were about five people last year who I would want to invite back - I just wish I could remember who they were!

I'd say I was onboard, which I'd love to be, but I'm afraid I'll get robbed of my xbox360 again before the season starts.

I remember that Kwajo! We were just getting ready to do the draft, and somebody broke into his house and stole his xbox. Terrible. I can see that this would bring back memories that are better left repressed.

i'd be down, as long as it's not more than 1-2 games a week.

I know the feeling of "losing" a $400 electronic.

I'm in if it's 8 players max. Like we found out last year, big leagues never work...

Also, I'll only do a fantasy draft if we have some kind of "cap" on talent. I'm not interested in playing with allstar teams...

I'd say the minimum for having a fun league is about 8 people. It's more about quality than quantity though. A 6 person league with everyone competitive and active would be a lot better than a 12 person league with 4 teams that dropped out, meaning that you have to sim all their games and their players are untouchable for trades.

So I'll say again - if you're the type of person who loses interest in fantasy leagues if you aren't in 1st place, be respectful to everybody and take a pass on this one.

Just like last year, I'll be down for one this year. Hopefully we'll have better success. Its a good thing you opened this thread up earlier so it gives people enough time to make a decision.

Screwston, were you one of the good guys? I really can't remember who was who. Help me out - who dropped out and who stuck it out and tried to make it work?
