Like Avery Johnson, Nate McMillan, Isiah Thomas, Sam Mitchell, there's always a couple of guys who will end up coaching a NBA team ithin a few years of their retirement as a player.
I can see PJ Brown as a coach, although, for some reason it's mostly guards who end up as head coaches in the NBA (why?).
Also I thought we'd see KJ as a coach anytime now. Guess not. Is he doing TV?
Re: Which current NBA players do you see coaching?
Not suprising that they are mainly point guards. Point guards are the ones running the plays. It's one thing to know the plays and it's another to run the plays. Elton Brand is a smart big man, but I can never ever see him as a coach.
Re: Which current NBA players do you see coaching?
Sam Cassell will probably be on the Clipper's bench after his contract runs out. And by the time Dunleavy's contract runs out or he gets fired or resigns, Sam Cassell will probably be head coach of the Clippers.
I kinda hope Cassell becomes the Clippers head coach soon. I think he'll be at the level of Avery Johnson.

You guys might think Im crazy but he has a very high basketball IQ and its only getting better, but I think when Luke Waltons career is over he could be a great coach.

Funny because I was going to post the same thing but picked Battier instead. They are actually pretty similar when it comes to basketball smarts.

Yea, I am a Laker fan and I get to see his basketball IQ almost every day, everytime he is out there he makes everybody job easier and he puts everybody were they are supposed to be. When he is on the floor I just feel that all the players feel comfortable and relaxed. Also I rarely see Battier play but from what I have heard from a lot of people, he has a very high BBALL IQ, but thats all I have heard.
Re: Which current NBA players do you see coaching?
The thing I like about Battier is that he does all the little things that make a big difference. First off, he's an excellent defender. He ALWAYS boxes out, looks for the teams best opportunity to score not just his, plays within the system (I think he can excel in various styles), the best in the league at taking a charge. Seems to have the right attitude coaches like for players as well. He'll never make an all star team, but he's a great player.
I wonder if Derek Fisher would be interested in coaching one day...

I always watch Rockets games, and I can't help but admit that Shane Battier has been one hell of an influence on the court, more than what Stromile and Rudy Gay would have provided. He sticks to his man like glue, can hit the outside shot, and is one of the few Rockets players with a post game. If you specifically watch him during a game, he defends players better than 90% of the league. HIs defence on Bryant is an example. Bryant went 4-10 or something horrible in the first quarter with BAttier guarding him, but when Kirk Snyder came in, Kobe heated up to score most of the LA Kobers points in the second quarter. Battier came back in and his hand was in Bryant's face wherever he was.
