They need to remove it for a year or two. Then bring it back in a good arena with a star on the horizon or someone like LeBron. Although LeBron will be old as **** by then.

I agree, imo they need to remove the whole ASW and just name them instead, add 1-2 extra regular season games or let everyone rest.

Yeah. The dunk contest has turned into miss your first 8 dunks, then get sympathy votes.
It is not the worst for sure. But still, people are gonna compare it to better contests in the past i.e. 2000 one and such, which is unfortunate.
The format seems to encourage dunkers to try on way difficult dunks too much.
I agree with you. The NBA has a history of jacking a lot of things up about the dunk contest but one thing I can kind of understand them on is the missed dunks thing. I think their heart and logic was in the right place. They were trying to respond and not allow another contest to work out like 2004's (where Fred Jones won on a missed dunk).
I'd just like to see more players being able to be a little more consistent. I think there's always going to be someone having a bad day, but that Green-White sequence was rough tonight.
It was more of a failure because it's expectations were so high.
I can't remember which years specifically, but a few of the recent ones have been turrible. This one wasn't so bad, with Ross and Evans having a good final round.

Agreed. I sort of felt there was a good chance White might do what he did, since he struggled to make some of his signatures even in college. And Green's always had a weird showmanship factor, like he believes people would think his non-dunk related tricks were cooler than they were (barefoot dunk, this no-net attempt).
And as Noob said, 2010 and 2012 were both the terrible ones. Over the last four years, I think this one would rank second.
they need to get rid of these stupid ass side events like this celebrity game. lmao seriously what is the point of this. and on top of that you have jon barry commentating? trying to be serious?
They need to stick to the all star game, and maybe have the 3pt shootout right before it. Have it all in one day so you actually look forward to something, instead of 3 days of dumb shit. And that TNT crew horse game would be the best thing to happen, just simply hearing those guys trash talk and be funny is all needed. Now obviously they should do it like in one of those outside courts with a few ppl in the stands not in the arena...
start being innovative, this stuff gets stale. Dwight howard pretty much set the stand post-2008, before that it was more VC and all those guys

The three point contest is the only part of ASW that is mildly interesting and competitive. I'd honestly rather watch like 30 guys do that until there was a winner.
