Default Can anyone explain the Pacers?

How come they have the 3rd seed?
They don't have any superstars or anything like the Magic or Knicks.
They barely entered the playoffs last year.

Why are they so much better this year?

They have a great all around team. No superstar needed.

Have they got any chance of beating the Heat or Bulls in the playoffs?

I would love to see a Detroit-esque team again in the Finals.

They lack a closer, and they have for a while. Its basically the main thing that keeps them out of the tier with Chicago and Miami.

its like Memphis.

not many scrub players. many key players. great size with Hibbert (Marc). and Paul George (Gay). a banger and scorer in West (Z-Bo).

I remember watching them in the PO last year vs. the Bulls where they lead almost all the time except in the latter part of the 4th quarter.

Key acquisitions (West, Barbosa, Hill, Amundson), improvements in young players (Collison,George, Hibbert) and a coach not named Jim O'Brien is why this team is where it's at today.

Whether they can take that next step rests on the shoulders of Danny Granger. If he can keep up his stellar play as of late in the playoffs, we gonna turn some heads.

Great all round team but won't get them anywhere in the playoffs, you need a superstar there.

i don't think they're very good, if anything over-achieving. they do have a lot of height and size off the bench too, but i just don't believe they're as good as their record indicates.

PS David West sux

After watching them nearly get picked off and just barely holding on against the Cavs' current D-League All-Star team, I don't have high hopes for them going forward. When you are getting consistently beaten off the dribble by Lester Hudson, you have serious problems with your perimeter defense.

Maybe it was an anomoly, but a team worth their salt should not be struggling against this current Cavs' lineup regardless of whether or not it was an 'off' night or whatever...

The Cavs are quite clearly attempting to tank. Kyrie and Varejao could be playing right now and may even be close to if not 100-percent. But, there is no reason to win games at this point.

This Indiana team nearly gave a franchise with that mindset a win.

They are the team I am pulling for out of all of the playoff teams in the East this year... But, I'm not seeing it.

Lester Hudson.

People don't realize how important coaching is. They were 17-27 last year with O'Brien, and 20-18 with Vogel + whatever else he is this year.
