Coach wants DeMarcus Cousins to shoot 55%

Mention the shooting percentage his coach would find ideal for him, and DeMarcus Cousins offers a sigh. "I need to get in the gym right now," he said.

That's because Kings coach Keith Smart suggested Cousins needs to be shooting 55 percent from the field. Cousins is shooting 43.6 percent this season.

The Kings' second-year center has shown improvement this season but needs to make more of his shots to ascend to elite status. His shooting this season is barely above his rookie season (43 percent) and ranks 49th in the NBA.

The NBA's better post players shoot around 50 percent.
