Default Syracuse's Wesley Johnson, Memphis' Elliot Williams, others declare for draft

Quote:
[b]Wesley Johnson, who was the poster boy for a Syracuse team that was expected to have a down year and ended up with a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, has declared himself for the NBA draft.

It was expected as it was for Devin Ebanks of West Virginia and Dominique Jones of South Florida. All three declared today.[b]

Memphis sophomore Elliot Williams will declare for the NBA draft and hire an agent, a source with direct knowledge of the situation said Monday night.

In Or Out?

Which college players have declared for the NBA draft? Chad Ford has the latest.
• Ford Insider | 2010 draft

Williams averaged 17.9 points per game to lead the Tigers after transferring from Duke last summer. He was allowed to play immediately after being awarded a hardship waiver due to a family illness.

Williams is projected as a first-round pick in the June 24 NBA draft. Underclassmen have until April 25 to declare and May 8 to withdraw under a new NCAA rule.

Williams' departure is offset by second-year coach Josh Pastner's top recruiting class. Pastner signed the No. 1 recruiting class according to ESPN's Scouts Inc., led by Will Barton and Joe Jackson.

Good. The more guards that join, the more likely it is for Demetri to come back to school. Williams must be leaving due to the anticipated lockout because Memphis is bringing in a sick recruiting class. They should be much improved.

That was one of the major things driving The Villains decision to leave
