Re: It's Official: Yao out for playoffs hairline fracture in foot
don't underestimate this rockets team..their small lineup can be deadly... don't forget the won 22 games in a row last season without yao or tracy for quite a few of those games... this series the rockets biggest runs have come with yao on the bench

That team also had Mutumbo, and while far from dominating was able to contribute 20 some minutes as a big body. HOU is in huge trouble with both of thier bigs out. That small lineup might have done well in small bursts, but having to play a whole game is going to be too much for them to overcome.....unless they hit a ridiculous % of jump shots.
The Lakers need to show some killer instinct and put keep the presure on them all game long.

Had to rep you here. Now Im kinda worried.
That rockets team did however, have Tmac on their squad. Lets see how well Artest can lead these guys as the number one player. I think he can.
I remember the year artest was suspended for most of the games, before he was suspended, JO and Reggie were injured and he led the pacers to a winning record when they were gone.

However we do have less stars to worry about now.
I am not too worried honestly. I may be a bit nervous since I don't know what to exactly expect from them without any big man at all in the middle of 2nd round. They will probably put Scola at center with Landry at PF. Gasol/Bynum better dominate this game because if they don't, I won't be happy at all. I mean they won't even be playing against a top 20 center in the league.
I believe the x-factor to this game will be the Rockets offense. The reasoning for that is pretty logical. If they can score a lot of points, they will stay in the game. If they don't score a lot of points, they won't be able to stay in the game. I highly doubt that their defense can hold us back for long (maybe short stretches).

What the hell was Bynum doing in the limited minutes he played? Where the hell was Gasol in first half? He showed up a little too late. The effort that we put into this game REALLY pisses me off. Lakers thought they could just breeze through this round without Yao, and they were up for a rude awakening.
I REALLY hope the Lakers don't expect to just not try at all and cruise straight to the finals. The Rockets do not stand any chance IF WE TOOK THE GAME SERIOUSLY. WHY DO WE NOT TAKE THESE GAMES SERIOUSLY? Terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible. Complete joke of a game played by us, and I feel embarrassed. I really hope the Lakers come out strong next game and at least put some effort into it... I am not worried yet, just pissed at team for being on cruise-control so often.. If we play like this next game then I am definitely worried as hell. I would really hate to have trouble sleeping.
Re: It's Official: Yao out for playoffs hairline fracture in foot
I didnt see the game 4 thread so i'll vent here. This was an embarrassing effort by the Lakers. The team completely unraveled right down the basics. As bad of effort as they gave, it was the lack of rebounding that really burried them in this game. The got worked on both ends, getting outrebounded 10-3 on the offensive glass in the first half. The Lakers just had no interest in boxing out besides leaving their effort in the locker room.
Embaressing in every facet of the game! They don't deserve to get out of the second round with that kind of effort. Its one thing when you get beat, its a whole other thing when you dont bring it. I actually turned off the game at the begining of the 4h quarter because I was so disgusted by the lack of effort.
Kobe's gambling on defense is also getting worse and really frustrating the crap out of me.

I recommend someone on the Lakers staff bring lifesize cardboard cutouts of Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Hakeem Olajuwon and place them on the court so that the Lakers take this team seriously.

I just had the same thing happen to me on my left foot last night in a league game. I went to the doctor today and they told me I have a hairline fracture. Tomorrow I go to the orthopedic to find out more. I guess I can probably expect 8-12 weeks of recovery after reading that article about Yao.
