Last night
in the NBA - quickly!
By INSIDEHOOPS.COM
Kobe Bryant keeps trying to force us to compare
him to Michael Jordan. You know it. I know it. The people know it. Last
night the Lakers faced the Rockets. Kobe took 26 shots and only missed
6 of them, finishing with 45 points and a win. Yup, Kobe won. Oh, the Lakers
won, rather. Not Kobe. Kobe's a player on the Lakers. Yeah. The Lakers
won.
The Celtics had lost 15 straight games in Madison
Square Garden (vs. the knicks, of course). The last time they had won in
New York was early 1993. Last night that ended, as the Knicks continued
their absolutely awful play. Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker combined for
54 points. The only Knick to really show up was Glen Rice, who scored 32
points, including 6 of 9 from 3-point range. It has to be obvious now to
Knicks management that this team needs a change. They can't rebound, and
they can't score. They face a physical mismatch in the frontcourt at almost
all times. It's silly. Silly, I tell ya.
Amazing stuff in Milwaukee last night. The Bucks
were up by 28 in the 2nd half over the Nets. Game over, right? Well Marbury
and some scrubs rallied the Nets back into a tie game.... and with no time
left Ray Allen puts up a jumper that hits nothing but net, and Milwaukee
wins. Great stuff. Though if you're George Karl you have to be upset to
lose such a big lead and allow this game to be turned into, well, a game.
Tim Hardaway and Jerry Sloan both got ejected last
night for laying the verbal smackdown on the refs.
