All times Eastern
Friday, Dec. 15
Dallas at Philadelphia, 7 p.m.
The Mavericks are very good in the West but would
be considered great in the East. This matchup brings us Allen Iverson and
Michael Finley, with Dirk Nowitzki trying to score against tough defense
from George Lynch and Philly's forwards.
Utah at New York, 7:30 p.m.
While the Knicks are not an elite team, they do
have a tendency to rise up and give the league's best a real battle. Individual
matchups don't shine here, but it'll be great seeing John Starks receive
an enthusiastic Madison Square Garden ovation; and watching the Knicks
weak forwards try to contain Karl Malone will be fun.
Saturday, Dec. 16
Utah at Cleveland, 7:30 p.m.
After battling New York (which these days is not
too physical an affair) the Jazz must visit Cleveland and deal with all-out
hustle and determination. Andre Miller has been compared to a young John
Stockton, and with John proving he can still play (and definitely still
shoot) it'll be cool watching these guys square off.
Phoenix at San Antonio, 8:30 p.m.
The big guys of the Spurs vs the little warriors
of the Suns. An all-NBA elite matchup.
Denver at Houston, 8:30 p.m.
Record-wise these teams are merely average, but
both have shown they can put out great efforts. Both teams are extremely
inconsistent and this could be intense. This game is a distant 3rd to the
above two matchups.
Sunday, Dec. 17
L.A. Lakers at Toronto, 1 p.m.
Vince Carter vs. Kobe Bryant. Enough said.
Milwaukee at New York, 6 p.m.
The Bucks are hot, winning 8 of their last 10.
Matchups may change with each stoppage of play, but key players Sam Cassell,
Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Tim Thomas vs Latrell Sprewell, Allan Houston
and Glen Rice will be nice to watch.
