![]() Recent NBA Stuff - Eastern Conference By Lar Rebird The Celtics don't appear to be going anywhere. The Miami Heat could use a deeper bench. They managed to keep Tim Hardaway, signing him to a one year deal for a big hunka cash. The Knicks, who struggled to rebound the basketball last season, just traded away their best rebounder (Ewing) for a small forward who doesn't know how to rebound. The Nets have no bench. Keith Van Horn needs to find a consistent offense. Will McGrady and Hill make like Jordan and Pippen? Larry Brown needs to cut Allen Iverson some slack. For the good of the entire team. Michael Jordan may control the player movement of the Washington Wizards now, but he's very limited in what he can do. Rod Strickland, Mitch Richmond and Juwan Howard make hoards of money and aren't highly valued around the NBA. Jordan has been given a situation that will can't be corrected without an all-out rebuilding session. Give him until the summer of 2001 to make a few good moves. The Hawks should absolutely trade Dikembe Mutumbo for high draft picks or any good young players. It may take a very long time for them to rebuild and by then, Mutumbo might be washed up. He'll be a free agent soon, so they better try to deal him before he just walks. Hersey Hawkins is a Hornet again, apparently. Charlotte should win a decent amount of games but their future doesn't look too bright. Elton Brand is fantastic. The Bulls should trade Marcus Fizer away, since he and Brand have similar games. Perhaps Jerry Krause should call Larry Brown. The Cavaliers cut Gary Grant. Now how will they compete for that elusive championship? The Pistons failed to provide Grant Hill with the team-mates necessary to get past the first round of the playoffs. Hill carried that team for years. Criticizing his contributions there is ridiculous. Maybe the Pacers should sign Dennis Rodman. They need a wrestler, err, rebounder. The Bucks wouldn't mind trading Glenn Robinson for a good power forward or center. They trust that Tim Thomas will soon be a fantastic forward and would rather keep him than the Big Dog. A bad summer for the Raptors. Getting Mark Jackson is nice, but he's old and will be gone in a few seasons. Corliss Williamson can score. Carter is awesome. But in what direction is this headed? Time to begin a semi-rebuilding effort and gather some draft picks and youth. 9/25/2000 ____________ [ InsideHoops Home | Discuss this on the NBA Message Board ] Sign up for a free web-based email account @InsideHoops by clicking here.
