![]() Summer is a time for many things. Swimming. Getting a tan. Being outdoors. And checking the internet 4 times a day to see how many contrasting reports have been published about what some people think other people are speculating as to which team Tracy McGrady might be telling people he's thinking of signing with. Whew. At least McGrady is talking. Tim Duncan is apparently in hiding, and in an attempt to avoid running into reporters it's reported that he's wearing a blond wig, thick black horn-rimmed glasses with those ultra-tick lenses that make your eyes appear huge and silly-looking, and pillows (to make himself appear fat) underneath a long, pretty red dress. Rumor has it that Tim's blue shoes don't match his pretty red dress. Other rumors state that he's probably going to stay in San Antonio. Or join Grant Hill in Orlando (assuming Grant really goes there). Tim apparently has no interest in becoming a Bull. On a side note, Tim Duncan and Elton Brand in the front court and Tracy McGrady or Eddie Jones in the backcourt sounds fantastic. Not that that's going to happen. It was just fun pondering for a moment. Anyway, the Bulls are now putting full energy into convincing Eddie Jones to sign with them, since the other top free agents don't appear keen. If Tracy McGrady doesn't sign with the Magic or Bulls, he'll be signed-and-traded to the Miami Heat. The rumor is either Anthony Carter and P.J. Brown for McGrady, or Brown, Rodney Buford, Jamal Mashburn and Clarence Weatherspoon for McGrady, Antonio Davis and Alvin Williams. If Duncan stays with San Antonio, and McGrady goes anywhere other than Orlando, look for Eddie Jones to join Grant Hill in Disneyworld. Look for Tim Duncan's people to find him new shoes that go better with his dress. Note that we're not making fun of Tim Duncan. We're just saying that he's hiding out for a while. Please don't sue us. We're good people. Jalen Rose likes life in Indiana, but it was known that he liked the idea of going home to Detroit to play next to Stackhouse and Hill. But with Hill probably leaving, does Jalen want to join a potentially sinking ship? I expect Jalen to wait and see if Hill officially leaves Detroit before inking anywhere. (Free agent signings can begin on August 1st.) He needs to consider money, team potential, and of course, general life happiness. And the level of importance Jalen places in being happy about where he lives, and how badly he'd like to be in his home state, is not something anyone other than Jalen and his best friends and family knows, so reporters stating that "Jalen is dying to play in Detroit," or "Jalen is very happy in Indiana," may have been told that by Jalen or "reliable sources," but when people you don't really give a crap about ask you about your happiness, do you always give a brutally honest answer? Rashard Lewis is expected to stick with the Sonics. But, he's high on just about every team's list as a top, 2nd tier free agent. Brian Grant wants to be someone's main power forward. That isn't going to happen in Portland with Rasheed Wallace around. He'd fit perfectly into the starting lineups of the Knicks, Lakers, or just about any team in the East other than Chicago or Indiana. The Bulls would also like to sign Tim Thomas to play next to Elton Brand, but the Bucks don't want to see him leave. Thomas isn't too thrilled with forever remaining a backup to Glenn Robinson, though. Maurice Taylor would sooner sign a $50 per year deal to play street ball with the InsideHoops.com staff than get paid millions to keep wearing a Clippers uniform. But, we win games, so that's understandable. The Raptors still need a point guard. Perhaps they can lure Anthony Carter, Tim Hardaway or Mark Jackson to dish the rock to Vince and Trac..... err, just Vince. Many teams want to sign Charlotte's Brad Miller, yet another sign that the NBA doesn't have a lot of really good, big players. Look for Miller to MattGeiger whichever team signs him (get that money and immediately reveal that he's not particularly good). Cuttino Mobley will probably stick with Steve Francis and Rudy T. in Houston. Austin Croshere probably doubled his value by showing heart and nice offensive and rebounding skills in the playoffs. August 1st can't arrive soon enough. _________
