| 2010-11

The 'Inside the NBA' show on TNT, which takes place before, after and during halftimes of games the network broadcasts, is one of the most fun looks at the league on television. The TNT "Inside the NBA" crew is insightful and funny. This InsideHoops.com page presents recent TNT NBA analyst quotes worth reading.

Here are Inside the NBA on TNT quotes from their Tuesday, December 7, 2010 broadcast:

TNT Inside the NBA Chris Webber on Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith: “Everyone looks at me like I’m crazy when I say this but I’m going to say it: Josh Smith (is the) defensive player of the year. Why? Because this team would not be as good without the defensive presence that Josh Smith provides.”

Webber on the Golden State Warriors guard tandem of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis: “(Curry and Ellis) are the reasons that this team is second in the league in fast break points. They don’t run as much but still they are second in fast break points. These two guys are great together. They play off each other well and being that they can both shoot jumpers and penetrate makes it hard for you to check these guys.”

Kevin McHale on Golden State Warriors’ David Lee and Andris Biedrins: “I like the fact that David Lee and Andris Biedrins can really hit the boards and really hit the glass. They may be small in the back court but those guys are so clever and quick that they make up for the lack of size in their great ability to make shots.”

McHale on the Dallas Mavericks playing more defense: “One thing they never had in Dallas before was defense. They never really were a team that bought into the defensive end. But now (head coach) Rick Carlisle has done a great job of giving them identity allowing them to play a lot of zone.”

McHale on how Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl’s coaching style has made him successful: “(Karl) has been around a long time. To be around a long time, you have to coach in different styles. He’s really adapted a lot of different styles. Hopefully he will get his 1000th win tonight but longevity and his ability to coach different styles is what made him successful.”

Webber on the Mavericks: “They really are the best running team in the NBA because they have done it for so long, they have this group together and (they have) Jason Kidd. These guys play great together.”

Webber on playing with bad teams: “Guys that are playing on bad teams and getting the playing time, they need to treat it the same way because their time is going to come. Are you going to be ready? Are you going to be able to fit in? When you’ve won those guys trust, you’ve won it forever.”

Webber on the Mavericks: “This team has stuck together. They have gotten better defensively. It just shows that they trust each other more. We always knew Dirk (Nowitzki) was one of the best scorers to ever put on a pair of shoes and Jason Kidd is one of the best point guards. They didn’t get bad offensively so you still fear them as a team.”
