Philadelphia 76ers Blog: Webber Gone Soon

Word has come from the Philadelphia Daily News and then the Inquirer that any day now the Sixers are probably buying out Chris Webber's contract. He's owed about $495 billion this season and $851 billion next. Then he'd be a free agent. But if the buyout takes place, the contract is done, and he's free to sign anywhere.

I think C-Webb will try to latch on with a contender. A team that in the next 1-3 years has a legit shot at a championship. He's probably best used as instant offense off the bench. Put him in, let him fire 10 shots over 5 minutes, and then take him out.



Philadelphia 76ers Blog: Steven Smith Gone

The team has requested waivers on forward Steven Smith, a rookie from LaSalle University who averaged 0.6 points and 0.8 rebounds in eight games this season. He played a career-high 12 minutes and scored five points vs. Indiana on Dec. 20, 2006. The Sixers roster now stands at 14 players.

We didn't see Smith enough to get a real impression of him, aside from that he does wear basketball sneakers and hits his layups during pregame shootarounds.
