Charlotte Bobcats Blog: Team Review
By InsideHoops.com, Jan. 1, 2007
The Bobcats are a team in construction. A young expansion squad, they have a few solid building blocks but will take at least a few more seasons before they can hope to make any playoff noise. Right now they're headed back to the lottery as usual.
Big man Emeka Okafor, after an injury-riddled second season, has come alive as a defensive force. He's averaging 15.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game, and hitting over 51% of his field goals. He'll be listed on the InsideHoops.com Defensive Player of the Year watch when we come up with it in January.
Lottery pick Adam Morrison is struggling. He can score, with 13.7 points per game, but only hitting 36.8% of his shots. He also doesn't rebound or get many assists, and defensively his feet are extremely slow. He's not a bust. But he may take a while to develop an all-around game.
Raymond Felton is a terrific point guard. Gerald Wallace is a very good all-around talent and a terrific defender. And Sean May has come alive this season and is terrific at scoring and rebounding.
The Bobcats will probably head back to the lottery again, but they're fun to watch.
