Quentin Richardson interviewWith the arrival of Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni in New York, people all around the organization knew positive changes were coming. Nobody welcomed those changes more then Quentin Richardson. After playing a season under D’Antoni’s fast-paced offense in Phoenix, Quentin found himself being traded to New York and making the best of a tough situation. Randy Zellea of InsideHoops.com recently caught up with Q and talked to him about the move to New York from Phoenix, the direction of the Knicks, the atmosphere of world famous Madison Square Garden, and his free-time activities.

InsideHoops.com: What do you think of the 2008-09 season so far?

Quentin Richardson: We have definitely had our ups and downs, but we are a work in progress. We just have to continue to work hard because we are in a good position to make a solid run and make the playoffs. As a team we need to stay focused and take one game at a time.

InsideHoops.com: How does it feel to have the buzz back at MSG?

Quentin Richardson: That does feel great. We have some of the greatest fans in the world. I have to admit when it gets loud here at MSG, you can not help not but to be excited, because it might be one of the loudest arenas in the NBA. I get fired up when I hear the crowd chanting “Defense!” while we are making a run. There is nothing like MSG.

InsideHoops.com: Is the All Star break coming at a good time for this team?

Quentin Richardson: All Star Break always comes at good time. Knock on wood, and thank God I am healthy. This a great time for us to rest up, and some of us can heal up some injuries. When we get back we will be ready to try and make a push to make the playoffs.

InsideHoops.com: Any differences playing under Coach D’Antoni the second time around?

Quentin Richardson: Obviously different personel. Otherwise, playing under Coach is pretty much the same. He runs the same type of game-plans and has the same positive demeanor as he did in Phoenix.

InsideHoops.com: What was it like being traded?

Quentin Richardson: I have been traded once and it was during the off-season from Phoenix to New York. I can only imagine that it is a nightmare to have to move during the year. I remember signing with Phoenix after being with the Clippers, I realized how much of a headache moving can be. I can’t imagine getting traded during the season because it is so difficult with the scheduling of practices, games, and the different pressures that we go through. That is not even counting what it does to your family. It’s difficult and even sometimes crazy.

InsideHoops.com: What do you like to do with your free time?

Quentin Richardson: I just like to relax and watch movies, listen to music and play video games. I love spending time with my friends and family. I have really gotten into Madden and NBA 2k9 this year. I love sports games and some of the shooting games as well.
