Seattle Sonics re-sign Vladimir Radmanovic
Sonics News | Sept. 22, 2005
Seattle SuperSonics General Manager Rick Sund announced today that Vladimir Radmanovic has signed a one-year qualifying offer to remain with the Sonics.
“We’re happy Vladimir has decided to return to the Sonics,” said Sund. “He’s a multi-positional player who can shoot the three and he’s a good fit with our team.”
Last season, his fourth in the NBA, Radmanovic averaged 11.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 63 games. He was originally drafted by the Sonics in the first round (12th overall pick) of the 2001 NBA Draft.
InsideHoops.com Editor's View: The Sonics wanted to re-sign Radmanovic to a multi-year contract. But Vladimir felt he wasn't offered enough money. So, he took their one-year offer and will be an unrestricted NBA free agent in the summer of 2006. He'll need to have a big individual season in 2005-06 to earn contract offers from other teams that are bigger than what Seattle was offering. Of course, it's always possible he winds up signing a longer deal with Seattle and never actually leaves.
