It's that time of year again. The NBA finally starts and everyone can start making their predictions. While most NBA experts are talking about what is
going to happen in the upcoming season and who is going to succeed, I am
going to go over the top 10 things that WON'T happen in the NBA this year.
10. Lebron James WON'T be the Rookie of the Year.
Ok, so I like this kid's talent, but has anyone seen his jumper? Yeah
nonexistent. When you can't shoot over 15 feet, you better have a point
guard that can get you in the position to score. Uh, with this team I'm not
seeing it. Sorry Kevin Ollie, but you probably haven't even been on a
scouting report in your career, not even the teams in the East fear anything
you do. Another thing, why hasn't anyone talked about Lebron's no look
passes, or should I say fake no look passes? Watch Jason Kidd throw a no
look pass. He is looking at another player while he is passing to another
guy. Lebron's passes the ball and then looks away to make it look like a no
look. Well you didn't fake me out, and you won't fake NBA players out.
9. Jordan WON'T make his 38th comeback.
He is old.
The career of the best athlete of all time is over.
8. There WON'T be more than 5 games in this years Finals.
The East did it again. They gave all-stars to the West in return for
little. Good trades sending Spree, Miller, Walker to the West, for Brandon,
Raef, and Pollard. Something seriously needs to be done. Anyone else think
the 6th seed Suns in the West are #1 in the East? How about #10 in the West
Memphis #3 in the East? What is West about Memphis anyways? Something
should be done. The West is deep and young. This isn't something that will
work itself, this will take decades. Does Detroit have a player that would
be in Dallas's rotation? I don't think they do. Oh yeah, they are favored
to win the Central, Dallas is the second best team in Texas. Cool.
7. Alonzo WON'T have significant impact this year.
He'll have some impact but with the Nets offense he may not be much better than Jason Collins. On defense he should help, so I'll give him that.
6. Tim Duncan WON'T ever be totally appreciated.
Remember Speedy Claxton without Duncan, what about Stephan Jackson? The
answer: neither do I. This guy is the best power forward in League history,
and he makes everyone around him better. Expect another MVP season for
Duncan.
5. Lakers WON'T win an NBA title.
Can this team have a little more controversy please. They do have the
second best player of all time on their team, but they also have one that
wants to be. I won't mention any names, but #8 would rather score 33 with
an MVP than be #1. I am more than pleased to say that even if David Stern
tries to work his magic this team can not win it all. Stern tried last year
(just ask the T-Wolves) but bottom line they just couldn't do it. Well the
Spurs, Mavs, and T-Wolves are all better, and with the condition of Kobe the
Lakers aren't. Can't wait to see Fisher and Kobe crying again this summer.
4. Dallas WON'T be good at D, and they WON'T have to be in the regular
season.
How good of regular season team can the Mavs be? I think they are going to
be nice, real nice. They might breeze through the elite, but how bad do bad
teams match up with this team? It sounds obvious, but has there ever been a
team that bad teams simply can't beat? The Mavs don't have to show up at
all and will still get 100 every night. I could see this team being the one
seed out West, even though I don't think they are the best team. Bad teams
won't beat this team.
3. Denver WON'T ever regret getting the 3rd pick in the 2003 draft and
getting Melo instead of Darko.
This kid is for real, and everyone knows it. He does everything so good,
does it so smooth, and is still so young. I love his game, and to think he
could have been drafted by an Eastern Conference team.
2. The 76ers WON'T make the playoffs.
You heard it here first. That is a very bold statement especially in the
East, but they are lottery bound. I here they are going to give Allen
Iverson more power. This is the same guy that said, "Practice, Practice?"
Yes this team needs it, a lot of it, and with Iverson in charge they aren't
going to get near enough of it. Random thought, how many minutes would Eric
Snow average in the West? Remember Mateen Cleeves? (Golden State is
better than this team, and it might not be close.)
1. Kobe WON'T play for Denver next year.
Laugh if you want, be mad if you want, this is one place he won't end up.
And that's my opinion
