Brand, Iverson named NBA Players of Week

The Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Elton Brand today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 11.
Iverson posted back-to-back 40-point games, his fifth and sixth of the season, to lead the Sixers to wins over Charlotte and New Jersey. Leading the NBA in scoring with 34.4 points per game, Iverson averaged 36.0 points, 8.0 assists and 2.3 steals in the last three contests.
Brand averaged 31.0 points on .541 shooting, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.8 assists to lead the Clippers to a 3-1 week and into sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. Brand posted double-doubles (points-rebounds) in all four contests, recorded season highs for points (37), assists (six), steals (three) and field goals made (16) and tied a season-high for blocks (six) twice during the week.

Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers:
- Dec. 7 vs. Milwaukee: Had a team-high 23 points, while adding five assists, three rebounds and two steals in an 88-85 loss to the visiting Bucks.
- Dec. 9 vs. Charlotte: Recorded his fifth 40-plus game of the season with 43 points, and tallied seven assists, six rebounds and two steals in a 119-115 win over the Bobcats.
- Dec. 10 at New Jersey: Posted 42 points, 12 assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 107-95 victory over the Nets.
Elton Brand, Los Angeles Clippers:
- Dec. 5 vs. Miami: Recorded a season-high 37 points on 16-of-23 shooting, while collecting 12 rebounds and six blocks in a 99-89 win over the Heat.
- Dec. 7 vs. New York: In a 84-79 win over the Knicks, Brand posted of double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while tying a season-high with six blocks.
- Dec. 10 vs. Phoenix: Had 27 points and 13 rebounds, while recording season-highs with six assists and three steals in a 101-91 victory over the Suns.
- Dec. 11 vs. Detroit: Scored 36 points and collected 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in a 109-101 loss to the Pistons.
