Indiana Pacers Quotes
Pacers News | Nov. 17, 2005
The Indiana Pacers on Wednesday got destroyed 122-90 by the Charlotte Bobcats. Theses are key Pacers quotes from after the game:
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle:
Overall impression of tonight’s game and moving forward: ”We got off to a really solid start, and they scored one hundred points in the last three quarters. It’s the worst thing that you can say about your team, is that you got out-worked. They out-worked us, and they rubbed our faces in it and they should have. I’ve got to give Bernie Bickerstaff a lot of credit as a coach. He had a team that lost four games in a row, and he got those guys together and they played a great game, so that’s great coaching.”
On his team’s play: “I am surprised, but I’m going to look at the film before I make any rash statements about anything. The thing that struck me most of all, is that these guys played a desparate game. After a good start we eased into the last three quarters and they beat us.”
“When we are playing well, there are very few teams that are as good as us, and when things don’t go well for us, that’s when we have to look in the mirror as a group, and figure out how to collect ourselves, and continue on a path that’s the best way for winning. We have some soul-searching to do. We have to play these guys again in a day in a half, which is not going to be any fun based on what I saw tonight, but we don’t have much time so we have to get the wheels back in line.”
On the play of Jamaal Tinsley: “I was hoping not to use him, but we got to a point, late in the second quarter when I just felt we needed to give it a shot, and I was glad to see him on the floor. Physically it looks like he’s doing better than the last couple of games. But we have a lot of things that we have to work out in this stage.”
Pacers forward Jermaine O'Neal:
On tonight’s game: “With all due respect to Coach Bickerstaff, we weren’t a good team tonight. We don’t make excuses, and tonight’s loss was no excuse. We shouldn’t even get paid tonight. The Bobcats played great tonight. It seems like we took 10 steps back.”
“This loss really bothers me. It’s a shame that we even showed up in the gym tonight. I really have a lot of respect for Coach Bickerstaff and the Bobcats as a team.”
Assessing Sean May and Emeka Okafor: “I haven’t seen too much of Sean, but Emeka is playing well. He has improved his offensive game. He is making the right steps to be one of the top power forwards in the league. He will eventually become an All-Star if he keeps going at the rate he is going.”
