New Orleans/Orlando trade Shammond Williams / Sean Rooks

The Orlando Magic have acquired forward-center Sean Rooks from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Shammond Williams, General Manager John Gabriel announced today.
Rooks (610, 260, 9/9/69) has played in 35 games this season for New Orleans, averaging 2.3 ppg. and 1.4 rpg. in 9.3 minpg. He was placed on the Injured List on Feb. 10 due to a sprained right ankle. Rooks signed with the Hornets as a free agent on July 21, 2003.

Originally selected by Dallas in the second round (30th overall) of the 1992 NBA Draft, Rooks has appeared in 729 regular season games during his NBA career with Dallas, Minnesota, Atlanta, the L.A. Lakers, the L.A. Clippers and New Orleans. He has averaged 6.3 ppg. and 3.9 rpg. in 18.2 minpg. during his career. Rooks has also played in 29 career playoff outings, averaging 2.5 ppg. and 1.4 rpg. in 8.7 minpg.
Williams (61, 201, 4/5/75) was signed by Orlando as a free agent on Sept. 16, 2003. He appeared in 37 regular season games this season with the Magic, averaging 4.9 ppg., 1.7 apg. and 1.2 rpg. in 14.2 minpg. Williams was originally selected in the second round (34th overall) of the 1998 NBA Draft by Chicago. He has appeared in 279 career games with Atlanta, Seattle, Boston, Denver and Orlando, averaging 6.2 ppg., 2.4 apg. and 1.7 rpg. in 17.1 minpg.
