The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed free agent guard Valter Monteiro. Per team policy the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Monteiro, a 6-3 guard, played for Angola in the 2004 Olympics averaging 12.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in six contests. He connected on a team high 19 of 40 (.475) three-pointers during the Olympic Games. A native of Benguela, Angola, Monteiro spent four seasons (1999-2003) playing professionally in Portugal before joining Petro Luanda of the Angolan League.
