Nets sign Jerome Moiso
New Jersey Nets News / Dec. 28, 2004
The New Jersey Nets have signed forward Jerome Moiso, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not released. In a related roster move, the Nets have placed guard Ron Mercer on the injured list.
"We feel that Jerome will be a positive addition to our frontcourt," said Thorn. "Our team needs size and NBA experience, and Jerome fits the bill on both counts."
Moiso joins his fourth NBA team after previously playing for Boston, Charlotte/New Orleans and Toronto. The 6'10" forward holds career averages of 2.8 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 133 games played. Moiso played in eight games this season for the Toronto Raptors, averaging 1.8 ppg and 2.9 rpg, before being waived on December 17, 2004.
Mercer played in the first three games of the season before injuring his left knee. He had surgery on November 15, 2004 and is currently undergoing rehab on his knee.
Jan. 3, 2005 update: The Nets have waived (cut) Moiso.
