Nets sign Jeff McInnis

The New Jersey Nets have signed free agent guard Jeff McInnis, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.
InsideHoops.com hears that the deal is for two years and around $7 million (total).
"We were looking to strengthen our backcourt during the offseason, and by signing Jeff, we feel that goal has been accomplished," said Thorn. "Jeff is a proven NBA veteran who can play both the one and the two, and we are very pleased to add him to our roster."
The 6-4 McInnis has played eight seasons in the NBA, with career marks of 10.6 points and 4.6 assists in 456 games. Last season, the North Carolina product played in 76 games for Cleveland, averaging 12.8 points and 5.1 assists.
Selected after his junior season at UNC by the Denver Nuggets in the second round (37th overall pick) of the 1996 NBA Draft, the 30-year old McInnis has played for five teams during his NBA career (Denver-1996-97, Washington- 1998-99, LA Clippers-1999-02, Portland, 2002, 39 games in 03-04 and Cleveland). His best statistical season was 2001-02, when he averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 assists for the Clippers.
