Orlando Magic sign Donnell Harvey
Former Gators power forward signs with Orlando
The Orlando Magic have signed free agent forward Donnell Harvey, General Manager John Gabriel announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Harvey (6’8”, 220, 8/26/80) appeared in 77 regular season games last season with Denver, averaging 7.9 ppg., 5.3 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 20.9 minpg. He set career-highs in virtually every statistical category in 2002-03. Harvey also made 27 starts, averaging 8.8 ppg. and 5.7 rpg. during that span. He scored in double figures on 28 occasions, led (or tied) the team in scoring three times, in rebounding 15 times and in assists four times.
Originally selected in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft by New York, Harvey has appeared in 142 career games with Dallas and Denver, averaging 6.4 ppg., 4.6 rpg. and 1.0 apg. in 17.7 minpg.
Harvey entered the 2000 NBA Draft after one season at the University of Florida. He helped the Gators reach the NCAA Championship Game in his only collegiate campaign (1999-2000). Harvey was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team by league coaches, after leading the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg.) and finishing third in scoring (10.1 ppg.), despite playing just 20.2 minpg.
