Timberwolves re-sign Mark Madsen
T-Wolves News | Aug. 9, 2005
Minnesota Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale today announced the team has re-signed free-agent forward Mark Madsen. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re excited to have re-signed Mark,” McHale said. “Mark brings so much more to a team than just statistics. First and foremost, he brings energy, and a tremendous work ethic. Plus, he is a good teammate and a great guy to have in the locker room.”
Madsen, who completed his second season with the Timberwolves in 2004-05, averaged 2.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 14.7 minutes per game in 41 contests last season. Minnesota posted a 10-4 record in the 14 contests he started. The 6-9 forward missed 35 games due to injury (fractured left thumb and ruptured ligament in right wrist).
In his first season with the Timberwolves (2003-04), Madsen set career highs in scoring (3.6 ppg), rebounds (3.8 rpg) and games played (72). In his five seasons in the NBA with Minnesota and the Los Angeles Lakers, Madsen has posted averages of 2.8 points (.470 FG%), 2.9 rebounds and 13.2 minutes per game in 296 regular-season contests.
Originally selected by the Lakers in the first round (29th overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft, Madsen was a member of Los Angeles’ back-to-back NBA Championship teams in 2001 and 2002. He originally signed with the Timberwolves as a free agent on July 28, 2003
