Clippers sign Shaun Livingston
Los Angeles Clippers News / Sept 9, 2004
The Los Angeles Clippers today signed rookie point guard Shaun Livingston, who the team selected with the fourth overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft. It's a three-year contract for $8.1 million with a team option for a fourth year.
Livingston, named the 2004 Mr. Basketball in Illinois, averaged 18.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game as a senior in leading Peoria Central to their second consecutive state championship.
Livingston is very skinny, and not a high-flyer, but he's quick and a fantastic ball-handler and passer. His height and point guard skills lead some to compare him, in optimistic fashion, to Magic Johnson.
Named to the McDonald’s 2004 All-America Team, Livingston originally committed to play for Duke University before declaring for the 2004 NBA Draft. The 6’7” Livingston was also named Co-MVP of the 2004 EA Sports Roundball Classic.
