Knicks sign four for training camp

Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that center Mengke Bateer, guard
Andre Barrett and forwards Tracy Murray and Brent Wright has been signed
as
free agents. As per club policy, terms of the deals are not announced.
Bateer, 6-11, 300-pounds, is a three-year NBA veteran, appearing in 46
career games for Denver, San Antonio, Toronto and Orlando with averages
of
3.4 points and 2.5 rebounds. The 30-year-old Inner Mongolia-native had
played professionally in China for seven seasons and has been a member
of
the Chinese National Team since age 18.
Barrett, 5-10, 173-pounds, is an NBA rookie who went undrafted after a
four-year collegiate career at Seton Hall. In 122 games for the Pirates,
the
Bronx, NY-native averaged 15.3 points and 5.4 assists and was named
All-America honorable mention by the Associated Press as a senior.
Barrett
played for the Knicks' entry at the 2004 Summer Pro League in Long Beach,
CA
and averaged 7.7 points, 3.5 assists and 28.3 minutes in six starts.
Murray, 6-7, 230-pounds, is a 12-year NBA veteran, appearing in 659
career
games for Portland, Houston, Toronto, Washington, Denver, and the L.A.
Lakers with averages of 9.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. The 33-year-old Los
Angeles, CA-native has been ranked in the top 20 in three-point
percentage
three times in his career, including a league-leading 45.9-percentage in
1993-94.
Wright, 6-8, 235-pounds, is an NBA rookie who went undrafted after a
four-year collegiate career at Florida. In 112 games for the Gators, the
Miami, FL-native averaged 8.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. Wright played for
the
Knicks' entry at the 2004 Summer Pro league in Lon Beach, CA and
averaged
6.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 18.8 minutes in six games.
