Sacramento Kings Briefing
By InsideHoops.com
Notes on the Sacramento Kings going into (and not including)
tonight's Kings game at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
The Kings (3-1) have shot 50% or better in all three of their victories. Vlade
Divac is shooting 61.1%, and Peja Stojakovic is shooting 51.4%.
New Kings this season: Center Brad Miller, forward Darius Songaila, guard Anthony
Peeler and center/forward Tony Massenberg.
This is the third straight season that the Kings have begun an NBA regular season
with a key player out injured. This season it's Chris Webber. Last season it was
Mike Bibby. Two years ago it was Webber again.
In 2001-02, the Kings went 15-5 without Chris Webber.
In 2002-03, the Kings went 21-6 without Mike Bibby.
So far this season the Kings are 3-1 without Chris Webber.
This is obviously a team deep enough to still win without a key star. But without
a totally healthy team they aren't likely to win a championship.
The Kings have had the same regular starting lineup ever since Bibby joined the
team in 2001-02.
The Kings have the longest active sellout streak in the NBA. They have sold out
181 consecutive home games. They are currently fourth on the NBA's all-time consecutive
sellout streaks, behind old records set by Portland, Boston and Chicago.
Last season the East went 0-15 against the Kings when playing in Sacramento.
