The New Jersey Nets just beat the Detroit Pistons, 94-79, to tie their second-round, best-of-7 NBA Playoff series at two games each. Jason Kidd finished with a triple-double: 22 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Here's what Kidd had to say after the game.
Question: Game 3 gave you guys some life and confidence, how about Game 4?
Jason Kidd: Both teams have won at home. Both teams held serve, and now it's the best two out of three. And we know Detroit is a very talented team, and they'll make some adjustments, and they're very good at home, so we've got our work cut out.
Question: How do you go from a team that couldn't rebound, couldn't shoot over in Detroit to the team here, doing everything right?
Jason Kidd: That's just the makeup of this team, we've never quit, no matter if we're 0-2 or down 3-love, we've always fought to the end, and that's what we're doing right now. We knew our backs were against the wall and if they came in and split, they controlled the series. This team has never quit, we've always believed in one another, and somebody's always stepped up to carry the load, and that's what's made this team so special.
Question: Have you ever seen Kenyon as pumped up as he was tonight, pounding the press table, waving a towel at the end?
Jason Kidd: One of our strengths is feeding of off Kenyon's emotion. Kenyon's our emotional leader, as much of a leader out there on the court. When he's playing on a high level, especially on the emotional side, we all plug into him, and we just feed off of him, and we just go. We've been there before, and I thought Kenyon was at a high level, and we're going to need that throughout, even on the road we're going to need that from him.
Question: Has this team regained its identity? You're running again, successfully.
Jason Kidd: That's one of our strengths, getting out and running. We ran out in Detroit, but we just couldn't score in the half court, so for us to be able to win on the road we have to be able to execute, take care of the ball and box those guys out and limit those guys to one shot, because they're deadly when they get second or third opportunities.
