Richard Jefferson Mini-Interview
By InsideHoops.com
Richard Jefferson is a member of the USA senior men's basketball team that has spent the week practicing in New York. They just played an exhibition game against Puerto Rico, winning 101-74. The team heads to Puerto Rico tomorrow to get ready for the Americas Olympic Qualifying tournament. InsideHoops.com and other media surrounded Richard Jefferson after the game for an interview.
Question: So how are things going?
Richard Jefferson: We're still getting to know each other. We're still trying to get our legs underneath us. We've only been practicing for a week, but I think we showed improvement as the game went on.
Question: Do you guys sometimes feel like there's too much passing going on?
Richard Jefferson: No, not at all, that's what you're suppossed to do. But you know, they've been practicing for months, and those guys have known each other for years. We've been practicing for a week, so it's just a matter of time of us getting used to it. So that I know when Allen's going to take that shot, Allen knows that Tracy's going to take that shot, and they know that Jason's going to pass almost every single time, and it's just a matter of us getting used to it.
Question: How much fun is it playing with all these guys?
Richard Jefferson: Oh, it's a blessing. I enjoy every second of it. I have a new-found respect for every single one of the players, and I think they have a new one for me, and the coaching staff, so I think we all respect each other and we're all trying to become a good team, not just an all-star team.
