Hawks sign Brandon Goodwin to two-way contractThe Atlanta Hawks have signed Brandon Goodwin to a two-way contract.

Goodwin, a 6-foot-2 guard, did get some NBA run last season, playing in 16 games for the Nuggets. And in 2018-19 G League play with the Iowa Wolves and the Memphis Hustle, his stats were impressive: 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 36.8 minutes per outing.

Goodwin played two college hoops seasons at Florida Gulf Coast University (2016-18), after spending two seasons at the University of Central Florida (2013-15). As a college senior, he averaged 18.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 33.4 minutes per game.

In high school, Goodwin was the 2013 Georgia 6A Player of the Year.

Being signed to a G League contract means he will spend most of the 2019-20 season playing in the G League.

The Hawks finished last season with a 29-53 record, which was just 12th best in the Eastern conference. Their bright spot of the season was the fine play of rookie guard Trae Young and second-year power forward John Collins.
