Hawks sign Donnell Harvey

The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Donnell Harvey to a contract, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Billy Knight. Per team policy, the terms were not disclosed.
In addition, the team today waived Reggie Butler, Jeff Myers and Saddi Washington.
A four-year NBA veteran, Harvey spent last season with Orlando and Phoenix, appearing in 60 games (eight starts), and averaging 4.0 ppg and 2.7 rpg (.443 FG%, .735 FT%). He was acquired by the Suns on December 23, 2003 in exchange for a draft pick. In 24 games with the Magic, he put in 4.1 ppg and 3.0 rpg, while in his 36 games with the Suns, he averaged 3.9 ppg and 2.6 rpg. In his seven starts with Phoenix, Harvey tallied 6.7 ppg and 5.0 rpg (.526 FG%).
Having also spent time with Dallas and Denver, Harvey was originally drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft. His draft rights were traded by the Knicks, along with John Wallace, to Dallas in exchange for Erick Strickland and the draft rights to Pete Mickeal. In 202 career regular season games (39 starts), he's averaged 5.7 ppg and 4.1 rpg (.459 FG%, .655 FT%).
The former Georgia Mr. Basketball and 1999 Naismith Prep Player of the Year, Harvey had an outstanding high school career at Randolph Clay (in Cuthbert, GA) before playing one season at the University of Florida. While with the Gators, Harvey helped lead Florida to the 2000 NCAA Championship Game, and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team after leading the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg).
Donnell Eugene Harvey was born August 26, 1980 in Shellman, Georgia. He will wear uniform number 26.
