Former Hawk and 15-year league veteran Grant Long has reached agreement to serve as the television analyst for Hawks games on PAX-TV, Turner South and FSN South this season. He will work alongside respective play-by-play men Bob Neal (on PAX-TV and Turner South) and Bob Rathbun (on FSN South).

"This is a great opportunity for me to be able to do something that I love, and impart information and opinion to the fans from the analyst's seat," Long said. "I have good memories of my time playing with the Hawks, so I'm thrilled to remain in the game and in the city of Atlanta."

Long spent three seasons (1994-96; 1998-99) with the Hawks, averaging 11.8 ppg and 8.0 rpg (46.4 FG%, 76.6 FT%) in 211 contests. Overall, he played 15 seasons for Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, Vancouver/Memphis and Boston. He last played in the 2002-03 season, appearing in 41 games with the Celtics. He posted 9.5 ppg and 6.1 rpg (46.7 FG%, 76.1 FT%) in 1003 career games.

Ironically, Long was originally obtained by the Hawks, along with Steve Smith, from the Miami Heat in exchange for Kevin Willis and a future first-round pick on November 7, 1994. He left Atlanta following the 1996 season, when he and Stacey Augmon were traded to Detroit in exchange for four draft picks. He re-joined the club in 1998, signing as a free agent on February 1, 1999.

He was originally drafted by the Miami Heat in the second round (33rd overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. He played in all 82 games during the Heat's inaugural season, and was named team MVP. Long played collegiately at Eastern Michigan (1984-88), where he averaged 23.0 ppg and 10.4 rpg as a senior.
