You mean 2 years. MJ was 32-35 during the 2nd 3peat. That's pretty old.

Lets talk about how players die before we decide which dies fastest. I see two aspects: athletecism and injury. As you get older you loose the first and get higher chances at the second.

Bigmen who don't need to jump to be effective (Duncan, Malone, others) can play forever as long as they don't get injured. Shaq with a K. Malone work ethic could be an all star at age 50.

Swingmen must change their game as they age to stay alive. They start out needing athletecism, then are less prone to injury than the big men becuase they weigh less. As they age, they need to get the jumper deadly to adjust their game.

Pointguards are a lot like swinmen, except they can try to maintain distributing skills as well as the jump shot.

Everyone loses defensive ability, but they gain defensive knowledge as they get older. Once their ability collapses too far, the smartest old man can't stay in front of the most foolish young guy (see Gary Payton).

I have to agree with shooting guard. It requires more refined and athletic skill than most positions, the type of fine tuned skills that are lost the most with age.

John Stockton dominated in his mid 30s, Jason Kidd is still one of the top PGs, GP was great into his 30s, I'm sure Magic would have been.

I'm talking about his whole career, which means from 84-03, he took 94, most of 95, 99, 00, and 01 off. Don't get me wrong, 35 is old no matter what, and winning those titles the way he did is definitely impressive, but all I'm saying is I highly doubt he would've been able to play all the way up until 40 without taking a year off.
