seriously, why would Smith not want to be here over Atlanta? other than the city being his home town, Philly is better in every way

My thoughts.

All these posts saying "Philly can offer 10 mill and ATL will match easily."
A good GM should have serious doubts giving a guy like Smith 10 million a year.

Yes. Atlanta is the capital of black America. It has better weather, restaurants, less crime, lower cost of living, a huge concentration of HBCU's(young, educated, black women), proximity to Florida(Miami), and the best strip clubs in the Eastern timezone. People go to the A and never leave.

Damn, it would be a dream come true for Andre Miller to have Iggy and Smoove on the wings. Remember how many alley-oops, backdoors and lead passes he threw for Melo and K-Mart in Denver?

I am not a Hawk fan, but the Hawks are actually further along in their rebuilding than the 76ers. You guys are acting like you are a 50 win team. You had a Billy as your GM for a long time as well. The 76ers overachieved last year and could easily be back in the lottery next year if they whiff on a post presence.

Half court offense anyone? A team slows down the pace and Sixers look like Sammy D after a foul is called.

Nobody is acting like we're a 50 win team. But the Sixers have probably had the quickest start to a rebuilding process out of anyone. The last full season with Iverson? 38 wins. Trade AI? 35 wins. First full season without AI? 40 wins. Atlanta has been rebuilding for how long now? They SHOULD be further in the rebuilding process. They've been doing it for 10 years! 37 wins is the most they've had since the 97-98 season. And it was 37 frickin wins!

For the record...Billy King > Billy Knight

They were rebuilding even when AI was there, getting young players in Iggy, Korver, Dalembert, Green and others.

The Hawks, on the other hand, had to completely blow up their roster.

Billy King may be better than Billy Knight, but the two situations are different.

When we drafted Iguodala, Green, and Korver...we weren't in rebuilding mode. We had 48 wins the season Korver and Green were drafted. Dalembert isn't so young. Dalembert was drafted the summer after our ECF run. Iguodala was added as a piece, came in and started, and we won 43 games in his first year. The only young players on the team that were a part of rebuilding are Lou Williams, Carney, Young, and Smith. 2 of which resulted from the Iverson trade.

Philly had a way quicker turn around than Atlanta and is already better, they have way more potential to be good. You look at Atlanta and they should be way better with the team they have and they just aren't
