Tim Duncan is more poised, he's a little more skilled (fundamentally), and he has them rings.

Kevin Garnett is quicker, a better free-throw shooter, and more explosive.

It's in the way that they play. Garnett isn't exactly a perimeter big, but on both offense as well as defense he roams all over the court. Duncan on the other hand just sticks in the paint and focuses on deflecting shots on d, and scoring in the post on offense. It may be a little easier to build around Duncan's style, but Duncan's greater team success also has much to do with his GM never conducting an illegal trade that cost the Spurs 5 consecutive first round picks. Just to get Joe Smith a large payday.

Duncan has more of a calm demenor that works well against the refs. Duncan is more of a skilled offensive player. I would also rather have him on defense because he stays more in the paint.

I say this but there isn't that much difference between the two players but Duncan has had better coaching and a better supporting class in his career.

The main difference is the circumstances they found themselves in. That said Duncans playing style of interior dominance is probably better suited for leading a team to championships.

This is easy. Tim Duncan had a pretty good team around him ever since hes been in the league, and we all know KGs situation. My point is, if KG got drafted by the Spurs, we would all be arguing about how great a power forward KG is instead of Tim Duncan. Everytime I watch KG or Duncan play, I cant help but think about that.

The differences:

- Duncan is a winner, Garnett is a choker.
- Duncan is tough, Garnett is a fake tough guy who got pwned by short guys.
- Duncan doesn't sucker punch rookies, Garnett did.

Duncan's post game is the difference, the majority of KG's points come off assisted jumpers.

It's not the overall numbers, it's how they go about getting those numbers on offense that seperates them.

Duncan is more consistent with what he does. Garnett's a jump shooter and can go hot and cold.

Late in games Duncan gets the ball in his hands and goes at the basket, and usually scores. Garnett passes it off when the game is on the line, or if he doesnt he usually doesnt get the basket.

the biggest difference is that it's easier to build around low post guy than around high post guy. it's simply the way basketball works.

unlike duncan, garnett has had some god-awful teams, but i'd still choose duncan anytime to build my team around just because of that fundamental reason. dominant low post big men are easiest route to championships.
