Now is the time for me to clear up a few misconceptions

I know how pedophiles have to be registered and all that, so whoever lives near them knows about it and such. I was thinking about that law one day and I realized how that pretty much screws up any chance they have of returning to a normal life. First time offenders? Ok, but repeated offenders? No one wants thier kid to be the next. But i do see your point. Guy makes a horrible mistake, does the time, returns to society and wants to get on with his life putting that past behind him. Wants to have a normal life but that cant happen if he is known in the community as a pedophile. I think perhaps time might be the solution. For all we know maybe there are convicted child predators who are living normal lives? Not sure but the only way i see a community giving them a 2nd chance is if that person proves themselves and regains peopels trust. 10yrs later and no incidents, not even suspicion...maybe that isnt held against him any longer? I dunno.

But people are just afraid because they heard the story of the registered sex offender striking again. Or they heard the stories of registered sex offenders who were repeated offenders. So here is a first time offender...paranoia sets in and for good reason being as tho children are everything to parents. Families afraid someone will steal thier precious one, thier hearts innocence away from them. Ehh, i see what you're saying tho.

Good points, GoBB. I didn't think about making the distinction between first-time and repeat offenders. I agree with you about that part. I'm just big on second chances.

I think that pedophilia and homosexuality are behavioral and not necessarily linked to a person's identity, and you think the opposite.
