Because up to last season he was. And when playing to his potential he is.
currently prime gasol > current boozer.

Booz is a bit more bash and barge, Gasol is a bit more finesse.

Boozer is so much better offensively it far overlaps whatever defensive edge Gasol has. Boozer is one of the most skilled big men in the league, fans just never noticed before becasue he was always injured. He has far more moves down low than most big men.

That is somewhat of a myth. Booze is more than just grit, he combines his toughness with a great, soft touch around the basket. He uses his skills to get points as much as his body.

boozer combines great offense with no defense. thats a not so great mix. but well, since people are already rating boozer over brand i'll just file this under those spur of the moment remarks.

Although I agree Boozer is better currently, I agree the icon isn't warranted.

Much respect to Pau, but since last year Boozer has been on another level.

Boozer is better than Gasol and it's not close. Boozer is possibly the most skilled big man in the game now, he has great footwork, can make hook shots in his sleep with either hands, has deadly turnaround jumpers, and unlike to ordinary skilled big men, he can also bulldoze his way to the basket because he's built like a rock.

Do the Grizzlies regret that they should've drafted Boozer instead of Ryan Humphrey? Absolutely. They brought in both Boozer and Humphrey for workout and thought Humphrey completely dominated Boozer, no wonder that they haven't seen any major success recently as a team. You have to draft the right guys.

offense? yes. sounds like redd, gordon, crawford and them are a few of the best guards too.

boozer is a great player, but people are overhyping him. if deron gets injured watch boozer break down too.
