Default Kris Humphries could've been great

in college basketball.

He left after one season and really hasnt done anything in his 4 years in the NBA
29 Games
21.7 PPG
10.1 RPG

as a freshman is amazing,if he could've stayed a little longer and developed his game more he could've been a top 5 pick

What were his reasons for leaving early?

no he could not have been great.....

humphries isnt a high talent/attribute player, hes all hustle.

any success kris has found in the NBA has been due to his hustle.

when he starts forcing things trying to display skills(he doesnt have) he struggles and is down right terrible.

Humphries is a meat and potatoes, hustle, energy big........that's it

sadly.
He could've been much higher in 05' because that class was considered weaker than 04' coming into the draft.

He first committed to Duke. He went to Minnesota so that he would only have to stay one year. At Duke he probably wouldn't have had the same initial freedom in the offense and chance to put up big #'s. He racked up big stats on a mediocre team and got into the mid-1st round which is pretty damn good. He made the right choice I think.

yea but... he coulda gone to college for longer, stay at 'sota and put up big numbers for 2-3 years... then walk into the draft and have a better chance of securing a better 2nd contract than $9 mill over 4 years.

Who knows if he would've really improved much at Minnesota. I figure once you guaranteed early or mid 1st round you go for that guaranteed money. At that point, you can only look at what rookie deal you'll get and not 3-4 years down the road at your second contract.

Humphries' ceiling is Eduardo Najera.

and that would be awesome for Toronto's bench

It's just as likely he would have leveled off his second year and exposed his limited upside.

With an ideal situation Hump might become a functional 12/10 starter on a team with a lot of offensive firepower. As it stands he will likely be a solid energy guy off the bench who has a long career due to his attitude and playing within his limits.

Or he could've shredded a knee as a sophomore and never got paid a nickel. He made the right choice.

IMO the best-case scenario for Humphries is something like a Udonis Haslem.
