Re: Question: Is there anyone with the authority to fire/replace Stern?
If only there was... Guy has lost touch. His career has basically mirrored Kevin Willis. It was great for a while but was slowly going down hill and should have ended around 2000, of course Willis was smart enough to finally end it a couple of years ago. Stern unfortunately just wont leave and the sport is suffering because of it.
Re: Question: Is there anyone with the authority to fire/replace Stern?
I'm pretty sure there's some body made up of team owners and/or league officials that could oust him. The NBA's neither a monarchy nor a dictatorship, you know.

Actually I've heard if you whine constantly about him on message boards and blame anything bad that happens on him, and anything good that happens on something else, they might get rid of him.

That may be the case, but it doesn't always seem that way...

What have I blamed him for in the original post? I just think that, yes, when he was first the commish, he saved the league. Now he just seems really out of touch and the quality of the league, as well as ratings, appear to back that up. His dress codes, fines, suspensions, constant expansion, etc, have stripped the NBA of any passion, rivalry and has watered it down in general. Again, just my opinion. I have not just blamed "anything bad that happens" on him, he seem to be making a lot of very dumb key decisions/rules that have broad consequences. The only good thing he has done in recent years is bring in the minimum age requirement.

Stern is an employee of the team owners. Too many people view him as the "owner" of the NBA, but that's not the case. The team owners own the NBA, and Stern's job is to look out for their interests.
