Default Wes Unseld, dumbest GM of all time?

From what I remember, this guy traded a young Sheed for an old Rod Strickland and a young CWEBB for an old Mitch Richmond so that his Washington Bullets could "Win now".

Does anyone remember his GM career in detail?

Does anyone know if the current GM of the Bulls (Paxton??) made the decision/trade to get rid of Artest? What did they get other than Jalen Rose?

I would put that on par with trading a young but arrogant and explosive Sheed for Rod Strickland

That was in the mid 1990's as far as i remember Rasheed Wallace was traded to the Portland Trailblazers in exchange for a pass first PG like Rod Strickland.

In a move that initially helped both franchises, Strickland and teammate Harvey Grant were traded to the Washington Bullets for Rasheed Wallace and Mitchell Butler in 1996. In his first season in Washington, Strickland averaged 17.2 ppg and 8.9 apg helping the Bullets make the playoffs in 1997 for the first time in 8 seasons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oqM8...elated&search=

A few years later before the 1998-99 Season, the Sacramento Kings traded their leading scorer Mitch Richmond who at that time is a 23.7 career point scorer in exchange for 6'9 big men Chris Webber. On May 14, 1998, Webber was traded to the Sacramento Kings for Mitch Richmond and Otis Thorpe.

Webber did not want to go to Sacramento, as they were a perennial losing team. Webber even states that he almost did not get on the plane that flew him from his Detroit home to Sacramento. His father convinced him otherwise.

When Webber arrived, the Kings also signed center Vlade Divac and drafted point guard Jason Williams. In his first year with the Kings (the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season), Webber won the rebounding title averaging a league high 13.0 rebounds per game. In the same season, the Kings almost upset the veteran Utah Jazz, led by league MVP Karl Malone.

PS:

I hope Mr. Kblaze can officially create a Rod Strickland Video, He is probably one of the most underrated NBA player of all time shame that he never make it in an NBA ALL Star Team.

Strick was good. Same idea as trading Bynum for Kidd though. Guy on the last wheels so to speak for a young guy. Sheed was already a meltdown waiting to happen though and really never got near his potential.

From what I recall Webber wanted out also and wasnt happy in DC but I could just be mixing it up with his soul food tirade in Sactown.

In his defense, he did get those two in the first place. That puts him ahead of the guys that have managed the Magic since they drafted Webber. Since then the only guy who did anything good was Weisbrod and he is gone already. Ineptitude seems to be the prerequisite for getting the Magic GM job. Not one good player drafted and kept between Webber and Dwight.

You mean Shaq and Dwight? Webber never played in Orlando.

Wasn't Krause still in charge then? The Pacers also got Brad Miller and Ron Mercer. I'm not sure what else the Bulls got. Krause did build the 90's Bull's dynasty though, so I think it more then evens out.

John Paxson wasn't the one who got rid of Artest. Jerry Krause was the one who did trade Artest and other players for Rose...

I totally forget who else went with Rose to Chicago.

There couldn't be a worse trade for Kobe Bryant.
