Rub it with an ice cube, or put an ice pack on it. Then wrap your finger like this:

Make sure if that doesn't work, to tape it to the finger beside it, it really helps :).

go to a pharmacy or better yet a sports medicine place....go buy a this blue gauze that can be put in the freezer. Freeze the gauze wrap it around your finger and put regular gauze over it on and off...

Also is it just a sprain or is it disfigured in any way???

But if its a simple sprain you should just be able to play...If its really bad buddy tape it...

i sprained my finger too. It hurts to make a fist, but other than that, there is no pain. There's a bit of swelling though

Pray about it... nothin to lose.

Just take a headache tablet before the game and you wont even notice it. It will hurt like crazy afterwards though.

Take a meat cleaver and chop it off. The finger itself will no longer hurt (though the nub will).

I used to jam my fingers so much especially during lunch time in middle school. I would always be prone to catching the ball with a finger in the way. What always pissed me off was that I would always jam fingers on my shooting hand.

I would try that blue wrap that you put in the freezer like the guy said and I would even wrap it around both fingers.

My index finger is crooked to this day because of spraining it real bad in 8th grade. I was playing basketball and the guy guarding me was real swat happy. I did a hook shot and he tried for a huge block. His palm hit my finger straight on and it bent backwards a bit at the joint closest to the knuckle. I couldn't even pick up a ball for like 2 weeks, let alone catch a pass.

well it's not disfigured but it hurts even after a week of icing it or taping it up or even just moving it around...

it is on my shooting hand, but i'm a "post player" so if i use both hands it won't be a problem...

thanks guys
