Wasn't Durant "dominating" U.S. practices a few weeks ago?

Yo seriously, I have to hate a little. Sorry. Carmelo was given the green light to score last year. Coach K featured him as the go-to man and gave him tons of minutes. If he did that with LeBron or Wade, he would have gotten the same thing. If he does that with Kobe, he'll get even more. I'm sick of people only caring about scoring. The guy who scores the most is always given the honors. Here's an example. I was pissed when Melo won MVP of the Rookie/Sophomore challenge in '05. Here's his line vs. Chris Bosh's line:

Melo: 13-18 FG, 0-1 3FG, 5-5 FT, 31 Pts, 5 Reb, 2 Ast, 2 St, 0 Blk, 2 TO, 3 PF
Bosh: 9-13 FG, 0-0 3FG, 8-10 FT, 26 Pts, 14 Reb, 3 Ast, 4 St, 1 Blk, 0 TO, 0 PF

So basically, Melo's 5 extra points > 9 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 St, 1 Blk, -2 TO, -3 PF.
All Melo really did was take and make a few more shots. Melo is overrated because scoring is overrated.

sometimes its not all about number, but the impact...

Like the scrimage game they had, Melo actually scored more than Kobe, but Kobe was the main man cause he scored the last few points with clutchness..

numbers dont say it all

and for your info, he did play pretty well in the white vs blue game too.

carmelo is probably the most polished offensive player in the league. there is really nothing he can't do, and he's very fundamentally sound. he's one of the most unguardable guys in the league, not even bruce bowen can stop him from doing what he wants to do.

Melo was playing the 4 yesterday...i dont think he can play the 4 they should switch him to the 3.

He was matched up with Frye, prob why he dominated him...

With Amare Stoudemire the only true big in the starting lineup, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James need to be rebounders.

"I think me and 'Melo know we gotta help clean the glass, because we're small," James said. "We don't have a lot of true bigs, so me and 'Melo gotta do a good job of helping."

Brilliant eh?

from Chris sheridan and ESPN.com

Zavlonas also mentioned that Greek center Sofoklis Schortsianitis, who gave the Americans fits in Greece's semifinal victory last summer, is being kept off the Greek team for next month's EuroBasket tournament in Spain because he has gained a good deal of weight.

He was baby Shaq about 3 drafts ago. Looks like he still is.

Anything better than a fat ball-player?

I'm a Laker fan but this is outrageous. This is Melo's team as of right now. He has given Team USA almost all that his heart and talent has to offer and stepped up like no other for his country. Forget this being "Kobe's team", he has to just prove he can co-exist with Melo.

this shouldn't be a shock to anyone

'last time Melo was the USA Best player as well

In the one game they lost Melo was the only one who didn't have a bad game
his mid range game and his size make him a huge mismatch at the international level
against zone defenses Melo is very effective

However I certain Kobe is going the tear the Olympics apart.
He's too good of a shooter and with a closer 3pt line the dumbest thing you can do against Kobe is play a zone Defense. He's gonna scorch a few teams and force them out of the that zone D to come out and guard him on the perimeter.

go check espn and watch the interviews about team usa..It looks like its Kobe's and Kidd's team..

Its not a comp between Kobe and Melo...but Im sure its not Melo's team as of now.. Coach K is actually somewhat hurting Melo by making him play 4 on defense...Sure in practice he will be able to score on Channing Frye or the other power forwards...He would prob score just as easily on he small forwards as well though..

I just think its funny this is all based off a ten minute scrimmage that no one saw where he was being guarded by Channing Frye...
